You should prepare the area ensuring that the surface is free from dust and any loose wood. Use our Tetrion Fine Surface Ready Mixed Filler which is designed to easily fill hairline cracks. Leave for 30 mins and sand away any excess filler. Can be painted straight afterwards.
Ensure there is no previous sealant/adhesive on the skirting board. We recommend using our Tetrion 4in1 adhesive and sealant on the back of your skirting board and fix onto the wall. Use 4in1 again to seal the edges and joints between the skirting boards. Allow to dry. Please check out our ‘How to’ Video here for more in-depth information. Other products also suitable: Tetrion No Nails & Tetrion Wood Fix
We would recommend using the Tetrion Hard as Rock which is a great filler for outdoor use. Once you dig the hole in the ground, place the lamp post in as required ensuring that you have secured it in place with post braces on either side, pour the required filler in and leave to set. For an in-depth explanation on mixing ratios and using the filler please check here for the ‘How to’ video.
You should start off by sanding the surfaces down to remove the unevenness and any other bumps. Use a coarse grade sandpaper and then switched to a medium grade. Once sanded, you should use the Tetrion 4in1 or Tetrion Woodfil. Allow to dry and use a fine grade sanding paper lightly. Clean the area and paint over as required.
The mixing ratio for the Hard as Rock Filler is 5 – Parts filler to 1 – part clean water. For example, 400g of filler requires 75g of water. Do not mix more than which you can apply in 5 mins due to the fast setting nature of the product.
We would recommend the Tetrion All Purpose Ready Mixed Filler as your ‘go to’ choice without the hassle of mixing powder to water. This ready mixed formula is ideal for this type of application. Ensure that the hole is clean and dry. To prepare the surface before the filler, you should spray some Tetrion Primer Bonder. After 20 mins, apply the filler and smooth out with a trowel. Allow 4 hours before sanding and 24 hours before painting.
Traditional fillers contain high levels of water and dense particles making them heavy and slow drying. This gives them time to slump and sag, especially in ceiling fills. We recommend using our Tetrion Smart Filler. This is specially formulated to be lightweight and quick drying consisting of microlite glass bubbles that keep the filler’s weight at an absolute minimum! Smart Filler will not sag and is perfect for ceiling fills.
Before applying any filler, you must first make sure that your cracked/damaged area is free from any dirt, dust or flaky paint. This is because some fillers require a dry area for application. Once the area is free from all lose material we recommend using our Tetrion Flexi Fill or 4in1 to fill the gap and seal the skirting board from the top. Squeeze the product into the gap until it is filled using a clean wet scraper or simply squeeze the tube into the gap until the filler bulges out of the top. Use a wet finger to smooth the filler down. Use a cloth to wipe of any excess. Allow to dry as per instructions on the tube.
If the formula has dried, it should crumble out of the fabric. Scrape or rub off as much as possible whilst its still dry and put through a normal wash. Some fabrics may stain but most fabrics will be recoverable.
The screws/nails when removed will leave holes which can easily be filled with a lightweight filler. We recommended using our Tetrion Smart Filler. It consists of microlite glass bubbles which keep the filler weight at an absolute minimum. Can be sanded painted and wallpapered in 15mins.
The main active ingredient in Super glue is cyanoacrylate (and for chemistry buffs that’s C5H5NO2).
Cyanoacrylate is a solvent free acrylic resin that cures (forms its strongest bond) almost instantly. All it requires is one trigger to set off hydroxyl ions in the water. Conveniently, almost any object you might wish to glue will have small traces of moisture on its surface. Air also contains water in the form of humidity/moisture.
Tetrion Super Glue Liquid is the traditional ‘Liquid’ texture in a bottle format. Tetrion Super Glue Gel is specially formulated for vertical jobs where a standard glue would drip. Both provide a strong permanent bond in seconds.
Always clean the tip or cap/bottle head before replacing the lid with a dry cloth. Store the glue upright in a dry place.
Tetrion Wood Fix is a super strong adhesive agent specially designed to provide unparalleled performance when bonding wood to wood.
You should wipe the area with a cloth and acetone or nail polish remover containing acetone. Make sure that the surface you are applying on is resistant to acetone.
You should always prepare the area before application to ensure the glue provides a better adhesion. Clean the surface ensuring there is no dirt, oil or grease and that it is dried thoroughly. You may also want to lightly sand down the surface to roughen any smooth surfaces for a better bond.
Epoxy adhesives are also known as structural or engineering adhesives due to their high performance, high strength properties. They are a 2-part adhesive, a resin and a hardener which are mixed and undergo a curing process – resulting in a chemical and temperature resistant bond. These are recommended for jobs where a long lasting, heavy duty bond is required.
When using an adhesive such as an Epoxy Syringe, it is advised to wear gloves to protect the product getting onto your skin. As with any strong glue, you want to avoid getting this on your skin so ensure gloves are worn before using.
After using your Epoxy, slightly withdraw the syringe so that it collects back any excess glue into the tube. This will reduce the risk of any cross contamination between the hardener and epoxy. Clean the tips quickly with a dry cloth and store in a dry place.
The reason the plaster has come off with the wallpaper is probably because it is old and weak. It will help if you use a wallpaper stripper. Use the Tetrion heavy duty Wallpaper Stripper which will actively penetrate and dissolve the glue under the paper. This will reduce the risk of you removing any further sections of plaster. To repair any areas where the plaster has peeled, use our Tetrion Smart Filler to achieve a smooth finish. Sand if required.
You must remember to prime and prepare your surface before applying a filler. Due to the chalky surface on the plasterboard, the filler may not grip onto the surface. Use our Primer Bonder which is an excellent stabiliser followed by our Tetrion Smart Filler to achieve that professional, smooth finish.
Tetrion Primer Bonder is a high-quality product with multi-functional abilities. It primes, bonds, seals and protects surfaces. You should use this when preparing your walls before wallpapering, painting, tiling, grouting or filling. This can reduce the number of coats of paint needed on a wall and will make the wallpapering process easier. For a more information on the Tetrion Primer Bonder, check out our ‘How To’ video.
First you should ensure that the pipe is dry and clean. If there is any previous product on there, please remove this with a nail brush. We would then recommend using our Tetrion Fix a Leak which is easy and quick to use. Hold the can about 20-30cm away and aim the nozzle directly facing the area. Apply a light coat first followed by a heavier coat 15 mins later. Please allow 30 mins for drying time.
Damp is often caused by poor ventilation, penetrating water or leaking plumbing. You need to identify the source of the problem and find a solution, or the damp will just keep coming back. Once the source of the damp has been identified and treated allow areas to completely dry out (use a dehumidifier if necessary). Remove any mould with Tetrion Mould and Mildew Remover. If necessary, cut out any affected sealants or joints and replace with Tetrion 4in1 (for 25-year mould resistance). Any damaged plaster or woodwork can be filled with one of the appropriate Tetrion Fillers. Keep on top of home maintenance to prevent damp spots occurring.
Large amounts of condensation on windows often points to poor ventilation, high levels of moisture in the air will find the coldest spots of a room to condense on which can lead to damage and mould growth. Keep your home warm and well ventilated to remove high levels of moist air. If the damp area is localised to one spot it may indicate a leaking pipe or damage to the roof or guttering allowing rain in. Use our Tetrion Fix a Leak to seal any leaking waste pipes or other non-pressurised water pipes. Guttering can be sealed effectively with Tetrion Seal & Waterproof.
Start off by fixing any leaks and removing any damp sources. You need to dry out the wood. The next step is to use our Tetrion wood hardener. This will strengthen any decayed and rotted wood by binding the wood fibres together providing a solid base for filling. This would work well in conjunction with Tetrion Woodfil. Wood hardener will also help prevent the reoccurrence of wet rot problems.
Tetrion White Spirit can be used for cleaning off or thinning certain paints which are oil based. It can also be used as a surface cleanser or preparation. The Brush Cleaner is just for cleaning off certain paints that are generally oil based. The Brush Cleaner also contains chemicals for water solubility. Cleaning with this product brushes can then be washed with water for a more thorough clean. It leaves brushes in a better condition than White Spirit alone and there is less chance of residual paint remaining which may stiffen the brush.
